Understanding and Attending to Special Individual Needs in Group Classes

About Leslie
Course Description
Leslie Bogart has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. As a registered nurse, Leslie worked primarily in Medical Intensive Care Units. She also spent 4 years assisting a Physical Therapist to gain more understanding of anatomy and injuries from a western perspective. In 1987, she began studying with Gary Kraftsow. He certified her as Viniyoga teacher as well as an Advanced Viniyoga Therapist.
Using Viniyoga, Leslie specializes in working with people who have been sick or injured. Synthesizing her medical background and yoga training, Leslie is uniquely qualified to illustrate techniques and teach teachers how to work with these special populations.
We will cover the following topics

* How to teach a yoga class that addresses the needs of a beginner or of someone with a medical condition without compromising the group.

* The Viniyoga System and how it incorporates asana, pranayama, sound, and adaptation depending upon the needs of the individuals within the group.

* Understanding the anatomy of the spine and the core muscles and how our lifestyle tends to weaken
both.

* Temperatures of disease and how to sequence accordingly.

* Questions to help you assess the appropriate practice combined with the use of intuition.
