Cultivating Tenderness and Delight: The Practice of Self Awareness.
"Generosity of the Heart Is the Beginning of Meditation" - Krishnamurti
One of the keys on this path of self investigation is to start to enjoy the subject that we are studying. Instead of knowing who or what we are supposed to be, the teachings of Yoga suggest that we begin to look more closely at what actually Is. But Self Awareness is not easy. And often at first glance, the self that we become aware of is usually not the one we had in mind. Chogyam Trungpa joked that, "meditation is one insult after another."
We will gather together for two afternoons with the intention of cultivating spaciousness and ease. Because in becoming Self aware, the play is not to get rid of tightspots, but to make room for them. We will rely on the magical and practical yoga techniques of asana, mantra and pranayama to assist us. Using the vinyasa form, our practice will move at a slow country pace to allow for exploration and connection to the internal currents. Most likely we will sit to allow for the flowering of meditation, which is goodness.
