Abhyasa: Tending to the Low Back. Stretching, Strengthening and Movement. 70 minutes.
The low back is a source of mischief for many of us. This sequence is designed to bring awareness and understanding in the lumbar spine and sacrum through gentle movement, stretching, and strengthening. We also open up the areas around the low back which if tight can sometimes be the cause of the pain.
Healing in the low back can be mysterious and usually requires us to go much deeper than the muscles, connective tissue and bones, but sometimes a little physical movement can help get us started.
We begin with a heart opener. We then do some gentle movement in the pelvis and sacrum. We stretch the hips and hamstrings safely on our backs. Then we transition to some lunge work to open the psoas and the front thighs. We strengthen the low back with some easy backbending. We counter pose with a gentle twist and then rest in a restorative "hip neutralizer" and finish with savasana.
You will need two yoga blocks, a blanket and a strap.
Once purchased, abhyasa video will appear in "My Lulu Library" in the "Navigation" menu on the Left.
