Hope you had a sweet Thanksgiving.
Our dear friend John Watkins passed on Sunday Morning, November 15th. We are missing his wide reaching belly laugh, twinkling mischievous eyes, and generous embracing heart.
John’s keen eye for beauty and small details allowed him to be a creative jeweler, sensitive potter, and deeply quiet meditation teacher.
He sought a more intimate understanding of silence and sound, continually investigating the complex art of communication with his close friends.
Born on August 15, 1953 at 4:35am in Dayton, Ohio to Elizabeth and James Watkins, John eventually made his way to Ojai by bicycle, arriving in the mid 80s.
John told the truth and expected others to do the same. He made his family within the community of Ojai. He always knew where to find the best coffee, homemade bread, fresh juice and other treats. Many of us have had the great gift of his support, protection and encouragement on our heart’s path. His deep loyalty to his friends, commitment to his word, and follow through has inspired us to be better human beings.
There will be a gathering on Wednesday Night, November 18 at 7pm at Lulu Bandha’s, 306 East Matilija, Ojai, Calif.
