| About the Weekend |
|
We are so excited that Doug Keller is finally coming to Lulu Bandha's. He holds an unbelievable amount of information and yet is able to relax all he knows in an instant and see what is really in front of him.
|
| |
|
He makes great slides and always has fantastic handouts! He also travels with certification forms to submit your hours to the various governing boards of yoga.
|
| |
We will gather three times for three distinct workshops. We encourage you to attend all the sessions as the learning of a group builds with consistency, but we understand if you can only make one or two of the sessions. Connect in if you have any questions.

| Friday Night, 5:00 to 8:00pm |
| Sacred Freedom: The Sacrum and its support System |
In this session we’ll take a very close look at the sacrum — at its anatomy, at the muscles that form its support system for safe movement, and at the mischief and injuries that can result when it is not working right. This will be an extraordinarily informative and hands-on session in which assessment of sacral problems as well as languaging of instructions for guiding students (or yourself) through safe and beneficial practice of asanas will be the major emphasis. Our activities will include practice of asanas (exploring alignment and action for the sacrum) as well as an in-depth look at assessment techniques for sacral health and the role of marma points in the process of healing (with hands-on experience). Anatomical illustrations, teaching points and marma points covered in the session will be provided through slides, and will be yours to keep and use in document form after the workshop . Cost: $60. Sign Up.

| Saturday Afternoon, 2:00 to 5:00pm |
| The Psoas: Don’t Push the River |
This will be an intermediate asana session, with new insights into the psoas — the core muscle at the center of all flowing action, whether in asana or in day-to-day life. After doing a number of poses in each class of poses (standing, inversions, backbending, etc.) we’ll pause to look at the specifics of the role of the psoas in each — including proper alignment, action, and signs of dysfunction. We’ll emphasize how to assess problems with the psoas and ‘core’ -- and how to release, activate, strengthen, and best support the work of this gatekeeper of the ‘midline’ in asana practice, as well as ‘off the mat.’ Illustrations and teaching points covered in the session will be provided. Cost: $60. Sign up.

| Sunday Afternoon, 2:00 to 5:00pm |
| Rasa Sadhana: Emotion, Breath and Marma: Insights from Ayurveda to Inspire Your Yoga |
Ayurveda provides a framework for getting a handle on the all-important role of emotion or ‘rasa’ in our lives, with insights into: how our emotional responses are shaped by our own unique ‘Prakrti’ or constitution; how we can respond creatively through our yoga practice (particularly through pranayama and meditation as well as asana) for greater empowerment in our lives; and the role of marma therapy in conjunction with asana practice to support that process. We’ll be directly practicing stimulation of the marma points to support better patterns of breathing. Illustrations and explanations of marma points covered in the session will be provided. Cost: $60. Sign up.
|
| Special Note about Sunday: |
|
TO PARTICIPATE FULLY, BRING 2 MASSAGE BALLS (WHICH CAN BE SIMPLY ‘SQUASH’ OR RELATIVELY SOFT HANDBALLS) AND ALSO A SOCK TO PUT THEM IN. AN ASSORTMENT OF PAIRED SIZES IS NOT A BAD IDEA!

| About Our School |
 |
|
We believe that the best way to learn how to teach yoga is to start teaching yoga. The authentic inspiration to share and connect with others will naturally guide you.
However, we also know that deepening the understanding through trainings and workshops with yogis already on the path can help grow the heart, strengthen the confidence and connect you with a supportive community. Read More.
