Thank you to Patricia Sullivan for the suggestion of 2 bricks and a blanket and to Lauren Peterson and Jason Crandell for extra tips.
Patricia Sullivan
The techniques presented in "Block Party" were learned from Patricia Sullivan. Watching this video in which she talks about the sacrum as the keystone in Tadasana was a light bulb for me with the neck in handstand. And all of a sudden what was a frustrating effort, has become a relaxing easeful place of play.
The Calf and Arch Torture come straight from the talented and knowledgeable teacher, Jason Crandell. Based in San Francisco, Jason teaches around the world and is a regular contributor for Yoga Journal. You can read more about him on his site, jasonyoga.com, and watch some of his videos here.
Lauren Peterson lives in Ojai and teaches Ashtanga out of her home yurt. Her stunning practice is equally matched with a sweet gentle soft heart. Every so often she drops in and practices with us. I was teaching this double bricked bridge pose one day and watched and learned from her senisble and safe method of stacking the blocks.
A slow connection will affect video playback. Allowing the video to "load" before viewing can help smooth this out. Here are the steps:
- Press "Play" and allow the video to roll for a few moments.
- Then, press "Pause" and allow the video to "load" before hitting "Play" again.
- You will know the video is "loading" as the bar to the right of the play button darkens gray.
- This will also give you the option to scroll forward and back more easily.
